A basic but major cause of the depreciation in the sale of Gollywood movies in recent years falls on the issue of distribution. Producers, directors and actors-turned-producers are unable to make expected profit at the sale of a produced movie due to hindrances that comes along with its distribution.
In regard to this situation, Zylofon Art Fund (ZAF) has come up with a mechanism to help enable the proper distribution of films produced in the Gollywood movie fraternity.
According to ZAF, one of the key challenges faced by movie producers is the ability to recoup investment injected into the production of movies in Ghana. With current national distribution network structure in place, Film Producers would now be able to comfortably improve their bottom line by increasing their revenue from the distribution of their DVDs.
The organisation has engaged 100 direct sales representatives who will be responsible for the selling of either the DVDs on the market, produced by ZAF or productions by other directors on agreed terms with ZAF.
The secretariat of the Fund has also announced that, incentives would be given to the Sales Representatives who would garner the most sales in a month. 1,000 sales agents have been targeted for the entire country, with 100 for each region.
The one million dollar fund was established in January 2018 under the auspices of CEO of Zylofon Media, Nana Appiah Mensah dubbed ‘Zylofon Arts Fund’. It’s aimed at providing financial support for the Creative industry. At the commencement of the fund in January, Zylofon media Public Relations Officer, Samuel Baah, explained that the fund forms part of the Zylofon Media mission to enhance growth in the country’s entertainment industry.
“To us at Zylofon Media, we see this as a lifetime investment which would be developed into a creative arts bank. But for now, it’s just a lifetime fund which will benefit the people,” said Samuel.
