Just as her Instagram bio reads, ‘actress and philanthropist’, Yvonne Okoro has paid off the hospital bills of 13 newly minted mothers at the Korle Bu teaching hospital who lacked the required finances to do so after their delivery.
Accompanied by her entrepreneur sister Elizabeth Okoro, Yvonne made a cash donation plus some baby and mother items worth thousands of Ghana cedis at the maternity ward. The donated items included Yazz sanitary pads, diapers, baby milk and powder, Ghandour baby products, hand sanitizers, Faytex, toothbrushes and other essential products.
In the midst of the donation, Yvonne leveraged on the platform to share a word of advice to young girls, telling them to plan and make sure they are well prepared financially and mentally before bringing babies into the world.
The AMVCA winning producer is not for the first-time doing things charitable. During the Christmas holidays in 2017, Yvonne in partnership with her sisters and colleague actress Luckie Lawson, took to the streets to deliver clothes and food to homeless kids. Also, in May last year, the ‘Brides War’ actress donated $10,000 to the Black Queens of Ghana in fulfillment of her promise made them ahead of the 2019 WAFA tournament.
