From girl-next-door to multiple award-winning African artiste! Afropop singer and songwriter, Yemi Alade has achieved milestones many may have presumed impossible. There is no doubt that she has become one of Nigeria’s biggest exports.
On episode 9 of Binging with GameChangers, Yemi Alade chats with show host, Seyi Banigbe, about her career trajectory and road to success.
Yemi Alade recently made the 2018 Forbes Under 30 honoree list and was also unveiled as part of the “2018 most influential people in Africa”. Her numerous awards include an MTV African Music Award, BET Award, MOBO Award and many more. Her music video for hit single, “Johnny” remains the most-watched video by a female African artiste on YouTube (over 100 million views).
So how did she go from being a regular girl taking Geography courses in University to becoming a successful Afropop sensation? You will need to watch the show to find out!
The corporate gamechanger on this episode is Kenneth Erikume, a partner with the Tax unit of PricewaterhouseCoopers Nigeria. He is an expert in tax, mergers & acquisitions, as well as regulatory and transfer pricing issues.
Kenneth got his first job as a volunteer computer teacher in his local church in Warri. He was also a well sought-after teacher and after-school teacher at the time.
All of the work experience gained as a teacher however improved his chances when he got the opportunity to interview with PwC Nigeria. Even though Kenneth graduated from the University of Benin with a 2:2, he had set his eyes for the top right from the start and he is now a globally recognized tax expert with many years of experience in dealing with tax issues for companies across Africa.
