The awards for the 2019 Academy of Country Music (ACM) were handed out Sunday night, April 7, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The show was hosted by Reba McEntire and aired live on CBS.
Coming out as top scorer of the night was, Keith Urban, who took home the entertainer of the year award. Notable duo Dan + Shay, also nabbed some top categories including, duo of the year, single of the year (Tequila) and song of the year (again with ‘Tequila). Not so long Grammy award winning artiste Kacey Musgraves, recreated her Grammy win by winning album of the year and also championing the female artiste of the year category. Jason Aldean was honored with the ACM Dick Clark Artiste of the Decade Award.
The show had on its line-up of performances; Carrie Underwood (who performed for the first time since welcoming second child), ‘This is Us’ star Chrissy Metz, also made her live television performance debut, singing the song ‘I’m Standing With You’ from the movie, alongside Lauren Alana, Mickey Guyton, Maddie and Tae. Brooks & Dunn, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Brandi Carlile and a host of many other performers took turns to perform from one segment of the show to the other.
Famous award presenters for the 54th show included, Alaina Jimmie Allen, Beth Behrs, Clint Black, Jay Hernanadez, Lady Antebellum and more. The show was produced by Dick Clark productions, the parent company of the Billboard and Hollywood Reporter Media Group.
