America’s game shows ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘Jeopardy’ are taking precautions to restrict the spread of coronavirus by filming without live studio audience for the time being.
The decision made by show producers, Sony to go on without live studio audience for both shows chipped in after ‘Jeopardy’ host Alex Trebek revealed that he is battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer and currently undergoing treatment and chemotherapy. Trebex’s point was considered following a study reveal by the Centers for Disease Control Prevention that stated that individuals above age 60 are at higher risk of getting ill from the virus.
A new study released by the CDA over the course of the weekend cautioned that older adults and people who have serious chronic conditions avoid crowds. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the average audience member for both shows is over 60 and as a result can easily cause the spread of the virus amongst studio audience.
The outbreak of the coronavirus has caused huge setbacks in the entertainment industry from movie premieres through to live shows getting cancelled and postponed. Just last week, the set date for the premiere of the 25th James Bond film ‘No Time to Die’ got pushed back to a different premiere date due to the virus. Also, sources close to organisers of the annual Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals have also hinted of a possible shift in date to October going against the actual April 10-12 and April 17-19 scheduled dates for the festival.
