Countdown has not officially begun for Africa’s biggest night in fashion (Glitz Style Awards 2019), but on the calendars of some of the night regulars in terms of nominations and red carpet royalty, the clock is moving and there is barely no time to waste at lacing one’s chances of winning the biggest recognition on fashion night.
With Ghana’s 2019 red carpet shows rolling from one event to the other all through to movie premiers with a pre red carpet assemble. Top contenders of all time; Nana Akua Addo and Zynnell Lydia Zuh, have raised the bar in the slay game bettering their chances of scoring a one or multiple nomination. As a fashion house, we totally love the standards!
Pulling off different ensembles at the recently held Ghana Women of the Year Honours, the two undeniable made a statement with their sweeping gowns, that it takes more than just a good costume to draw cameras attention; deportment on the carpet plus consistency with the pose at every angle for each cameras benefit is needed when claiming the title of a red carpet PHD holder.
The two times best dressed celebrity on the red carpet winner Nana Akua Addo, did it for the red color gown lovers downing in a red couture Leo Almodal killer dress. The gown is embellished with Japanese glass beads and Austrian crystals in light siam and scarlet red swarovkis. From head-to-toe, the fashion icon basked the simple referrer of an extraordinaire when it comes to wearing a couture masterpiece.
From red to black, Nana Akua, commemorated the death of Christ at the ‘Away Bus’ movie premiere over the weekend, where she wore a bodysuit and a wrap skirt ball gown straight from the Anteeze collection of claturally (clothing brand). Her hair wrapped up on top and serving camera lights with the typical Nana Akua hands on the waist signature pose for the gram. If there is ever a GOAT title for redtastic gamers, she surely will be worthy of such honor.
It’s hard to come by a Glitz guest list that comes along with a red carpet special and not find the name Zynnell Lydia Zuh, topping the sheet. Whenever she makes an appearance, we ask ourselves ‘When will the MET GALA call?’ In a well fabricated Sima Brew kente cloth accessorized with a lace fabric holding the shoulders firm, Zynnell turned heads at the Women of the Year Honours. Ultimately, she is Zynnell and we expected nothing less from her by the way.
Not a fan of the black culture to celebrate the death of Christ as most of her colleagues wore to the ‘Away Bus’ movie premiere (Moesha Budong, Fella Makafui). The three times in a row movie personality of the year (GSA) walked the carpet in a pink jumpsuit (the epitome of a modern woman’s wardrobe) and a neatly cut short hair for a change.
As Africa’s recognized doyennes on and off red carpet glam we await more regal from their closet in the shows that will precede the annual Glitz Style Awards. Chances of scoring a nomination? (we shall see when the time comes), Will they be on our guest list? (you can count on that for sure). Until then, with fingers crossed, we hope they save the best for our big night.
