Two-time Emmy award winning actress, Viola Davis will complete her five seasons television appearance on ABC’S ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ and make way for an all-new series at Showtime titled ‘First Ladies’. Viola, according to E! News will play former first lady Michelle Obama in the developing series.
‘First Ladies’ has been issued to run for three seasons at Showtime, with the first season centered around the lives of Obama, Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford. Davis and Julius Tennon are on board as executive producers, alongside Cathy Schulman, Jeff Gaspin and Brad Kaplan. Aaron Cooley is also on board for script writing and as an executive producer.
The developing drama will tell its story around, “In the East Wing of the White House, many of history’s most impactful and world changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic first ladies. This series will peel back the curtain on the personal and political lives of our most enigmatic heroes,” the logline to the drama read.
So far, Viola is the only actor made known to star in the series. Showtime and Lionsgate will co-produce.
