45-year-old supermodel Tyra Banks has announced her newest venture in business ‘Modelland’, a multi-level 21,000sq. ft space in Santa Monica Place, which will feature retail shops, dinning destinations, interactive entertainment and many others.
Tyra, who has appeared in almost every laudable beauty commercial and walked every high-rated fashion show in the world (perhaps, Glitz Africa Fashion week will be next) described Modelland as a destination which will bring modelling to the masses and expand the definition of beauty. She told variety, “I’ve always been insanely inspired by attractions like Disneyland and Universal Studios and have wanted to bring that spirit of adventure to the world of modeling. But not the exclusive modeling industry. I’m talking about modeling for the masses.”
Details of the Modelland space is still quiet-hanging, but the supermodel confirmed to WWD that the space won’t just be a pop-up attraction, but will also include clothing for guests to wear created by Hollywood costume designers and stylists. Tyra anticipates the space to be a place where the modelling world meets other sectors in showbiz and corporate circles, “Modelland is going to be a place where the modeling world meets fantasy, meets entertainment, meets technology, meets retail, meets dinning, meets…your fiercest best self you could ever imagine.”
Modelland is set to open later this year and everyone in Hollywood is anxiously waiting for what the favorite supermodel of all time will bring on board with this new adventure of hers. Her success on everything she touches goes way beyond the modeling circles as she has made a name in film, books and even to the extent of teaching at Stanford University sometime back.
