All hope is not lost for Timothee Chalamet to win an Oscar before turning 30. The 24-year old actor is in early talks to star as Bob Dylan in the Fox Searchlight developing film ‘Going Electric’.
According to Deadline who first reported the news, Chalamet will play Dylan by retelling the singer’s story from the time he decided to turn away from folk music and do rock and roll. The storyline will also detail the influence of his career in the music fraternity and the world that listens to his music. The site also confirms that Dylan is working hand-in-hand with James Mangold and the production team to create and exact retelling of his life at the time, while Chalamet is already taking guitar lessons to abreast himself well with the character he is about to play.
The film will be directed by ‘Ford V. Ferrari’ director Mangold, who for the second time will helm over the story of a 60s musical icon after the 2005 ‘Walk the Line’ movie which chronicled the life of American singer and songwriter Johnny Cash.
An Oscar glory for Chalamet has been long overdue after the actor lost his first and only Oscar nomination to date to Gary Oldman in 2018. The past year, 2019 was a busy year for the young actor who starred in Greta Gerwig’s ‘Little Women’ adaptation playing Laurie and the Netflix historical drama action ‘The King’.
Chalamet will next be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune’, which cast Hollywood favorites Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem and Jason Momoa.
