Quibi’s restructuring of its partnership and distribution team has caused the departure of its senior executive Tim Connolly off his role as head of partnerships and distribution.
The reorganization of the streaming platform is a precedent activity ahead of its launch in April next year, which will come along with short form series put together by entertainers such as Steven Spielberg, Antoine Fuqua, Sam Raimi and Guilermo del Toro.
Spending a number of years at Hulu before joining Quibi late 2018, Tim spearheaded discussions with third-party distributors on behalf of Quibi including telecom companies to offer Quibi a space on their devices. He also formed part of the team that negotiated $100 million in upfront ad sales with advertisers including Google, Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo and Walmart.
Tim’s role is the only one to receive a termination at Quibi’s restructuring including turning the advertising partnerships team into a stand-alone group reporting directly into Quibi CEO Meg Whitman.
