The 1994 sitcom ‘Friends’ introduced Hollywood to six close pals, who lived in New York City and shared their daily life struggles together. Whiles human actors such Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin, Gabrielle Union and more were cast on the screen to play a tad role in the lives of the six lead characters, a monkey named Marcel, came in and left an unforgettable memory in the life of Ross Gelllar (David Schwimmer).
Marcel, whose real name is Katie (a female in real life, but played the opposite in the ‘Friends’ series) is currently in her mid-to late 20s and is all set to make a comeback on television with FX adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s graphic novel ‘Y: The Last Man’. Katie will star opposite Barry Keoghan, who plays the last man in the movie.
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that, the story centers on Keoghan’s Yorick Brown, the last surviving man on Earth, who is on a mission to find out why the male population has been wiped out. His primate companion, Ampersand (Katie), is the only other male mammal to have survived the plaque.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, FX CEO John Landgraf disclosed how he recalled the face of the monkey, “I recognize Courtney Cox and I recognize that monkey. There’s nothing like a really experienced actor who knows how to hit their marks.”
Knowing the life span of capuchin monkeys to be able to live up to the age 40, Katie pretty much has a long time left in Hollywood.
