Of late, Taylor Swift has been running the world of music with a fresh album release ‘Lover’. The album, which made its debut on Friday, 23rd August has already recorded the biggest sales week in the U.S for an album in 2019.
‘Lover’s’ attained fete is evident by its sale of around 450,000 copies ($2 million) on its first day of release, buoyed by pre-order sales. Prior to ‘Lover’ take over, Lady Gaga’s ‘A Star is Born’ soundtrack album was at No.1 for top selling album of the year with 444,000 sold copies. Selling at a full speed, Swift is in the race to outdo her previous album ‘Reputation’ which sold over 1.216 million copies during its first week of sales in December 2017.
Industry experts are of the opinion that ‘Lover’ could end its week run with a total 700,000 sold-out copies in the U.S. On condition that it does with the 700,000 predicted units, ‘Lover’ will surpass the Jonas Brother’s ‘Happiness Begins’, which began with 414,000, to become the biggest album released in 2019.
