Holding on record as the female artiste with the most American Music Awards win of all time, Taylor Swift has been named recipient of the prestigious ‘Artiste of the Decade Award’ for the 2019 AMAs. Announced by Dick Clark Productions and ABC yesterday, Swift will merit the title after a successful run with 23 AMAs since her debut appearance in the music industry in 2006.
“Taylor’s impact on music this decade is undeniable and her performance on the American Music Awards have been truly spectacular. We’re thrilled to honor her as our Artiste of the Decade and can’t wait for her to blow everyone away with an epic career-spanning performance unlike any other,” Vice president of Dick Clark Production’s Programming and Development, Mark Bracco disclosed.
Spanning over a decade and more in the music industry, Swift has stayed No.1 on the Billboard 200 album chart for six times and scored a five times No.1 slot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
At this year’s AMAs Swift is up for a performance and is nominated in 5 different categories namely; artist of the year, favorite pop/rock female artist, favorite music video, favorite pop/rock album and favorite adult contemporary artist.
If the night goes well for the ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ singer, Taylor could ultimately break the standing record of the late Michael Jackson, who amassed 24 AMAs before his death in 2009.
