Netflix Vice President for Original Programming, Cindy Holland has announced that the award-winning TV series, Stranger Things will return with season 3 next year summer.
Holland made the announcement on Sunday, July 29, at her first turn in front of the Television Critics Association’s press tour. According to her the show creators are well aware of the expectations of the public with regards to the third season of the show. They only want to take their time so as to deliver something bigger than previous seasons.
“The Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard. They understand that the stakes are high, they want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. So they really want to take the time to get it right,” said Holland. She also disclosed that the third season is going to be fantastic and that fans shouldn’t worry with the delay because it’s worth the wait. “It’s going to be a fantastic season. It’s gonna be worth the wait.”
Speaking of possible changes with the third season, Holland explained to the small group of reporters gathered that nothing has changed. “Nothing has changed with respect to Stranger Things. It’s a fantastic season, there are more special effects and I think it’s gonna be a really exciting season, but it just takes a little more time,” Holland promised.
The American science fiction-horror television series made its seasonal debut in July 2016 with 17 episodes. The show has leveled up to become one of the best show runners of all time nodding 5 Golden Globe Awards, 1 Critics’ Choice Television Award, 31 Primetime Emmy Award nominations with 5 wins and more.
