Netflix has issued a fourth installment for their smashed hit series ‘Stranger Things’. The developing fourth season will take place outside the city of Hawkins, where the first three seasons of the show took place with supernatural events as storyline.
Created by the Duffer Brothers, Netflix Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, disclosed, “We can’t wait to see what The Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of The Upside Down.”
Adding more deals aside the ‘Stranger Things’ contract to the Duffers, Netflix has signed a multi-year content deal with them for the purpose of providing film and television inclined content for their millions of subscribers. “The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with ‘Stranger Things’ and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other films and series projects our members will love, “said Ted.
The Duffers also responded to the renewed contract saying, “Ted Sarandos, Cindy Holland, Brian Wright, and Matt Thunell took a huge chance on us and our show and forever changed our lives. From our first pitch meeting to the release of ‘Stranger Things 3’, the entire Netflix has been nothing short of sensational, providing us with the kind of support, guidance, and creative freedom we always dreamed about.”
The Duffers join a tall list of film and television creators including ‘Wonder Woman’ director Patty Jekins, ‘Game of Thrones’ creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, ‘Pose’ director Janet Mock, who have all inked multiple deals with the streaming platform.
Since its first season premiere in 2016, ‘Stranger Things’ have totaled a number of 30 Emmy nominations and six wins. Prior to their Hawkins-based franchise, the Duffers worked on the Fox series ‘Wayward Pines’ and Warner Bros film ‘Hidden’. They are repped as writers by Alex Kohner and as directors by CAA.
