HBO Max is keeping up with the quarantine cooking skills of Selena Gomez. The streaming platform has announced an untitled cooking show starring Gomez as head chef is headed to the platform after its launch on May 27, 2020.
“We are so excited to have Selena Gomez in our first wave of programming on HBO Max and watch her adventures in the kitchen as she, like many of us, tries to improve her cooking skills during quarantine,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max.
Executive produced by Gomez, the unscripted series will feature her alongside a rotating cast of master chefs passing through her kitchen to prepare different kinds of meals, while on lockdown.
According to a statement released by the streaming service, the cooking show will highlight in each episode a food-related charity that embraces both the struggle and the joy of learning to cook.
Gomez describes it as the ‘perfect project’ which makes room for her to experiment with something she loves doing best, cooking.
“I’ve always been very vocal about my love of food,” Gomez said in a statement. “I definitely don’t have the formal training though! Like many of us, while being home I find myself cooking more and experimenting in the kitchen.”
The 10-episode show is set for release this summer.
Aside cooking, Gomez has been creating music from her home studio. The singer last posted on Instagram a photo of herself seated in her sound booth at home captioned, “Makeshift studio so I can work from home.”
She has also been engaging in different charitable works amidst the pandemic, donating cash to the Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles to help its heath workers purchase needed items to aid their work.
“So thankful for every single medical professional who is putting their health on the line to take care of others,” she tweeted. “I’m donating to @CedarsSinai as they are low on masks and ventilators. They’ve taken such good care of me so it’s my turn to show my gratitude.”
