With multiple hit songs and sold-out concerts to his credit, Sarkodie is picking up the pen to ink his music and life journey. The international award-winning rapper has announced the release of his first book titled ‘The Highest’.
The upcoming novel is named after his fourth studio album ‘Highest’ released in 2017. Further details about the book is kept under wraps by management until official release date. Accompanying the announcement is the cover unveiling of the book, which captured a black and white face shot of the rapper with his birth name scripted beneath the photo ‘Michael ‘Sarkodie’ Owusu Addo’.
The inclusion of an ‘author’ to his already vibrant resume makes him the first mainstream artist in Ghana to release a book that celebrates his legacy. On the other side of Ghanaian showbiz talents that have journaled their own life experiences into a book, Sarkodie joins the likes of Juliet Ibrahim, who released ‘A Toast to Life’ last year detailing her survival as a refugee and actress/producer Kafui Danku, who came out with ‘Silence is Not Golden’ in 2018 to tell her struggles with pregnancy before welcoming her first child.
Few artists in Ghana can boast of a well-coordinated career pack accomplishment as Sarkodie. Over the years, he has formed part of the club of Ghanaian hit makers making waves on international platforms. He has by far won two BET awards, an MTV Africa music award, an Independent award and two Headies, all within a decade.
Amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis that has shuttered music concerts across the globe, Sarkodie successfully hosted an online ‘Black Love Virtual Concert’ on Ceek over the weekend that amassed millions of views from different countries around the world, a feat attained first by him in the Ghana Music Industry.
