The British Fashion Council has announced Sarah Burton as recipient of the 2019 Trailblazer Award. The honor will be done the creative director of Alexander McQueen come December 2, 2019 during the Fashion Awards ceremony.
The accolade is given in recognition of game-changers driving fashion forward through groundbreaking innovations and unparalleled craftsmanship. In view of looking for a creative, worthy of the title, Sarah’s works in the fashion industry since taking over the helm from Lee McQueen in 2010 has cemented her name in the records of fashion workhorses making great impact in the industry, therefore a solid recipient for the accolade.
“Sarah’s empowering and narrative approach to shows and her focus on community and appreciation of craft, technology and English heritage is what has made her one of the most respected designers of our time. Her commitment to sharing her vision and expertise with the future generations of fashion designers has been remarkable. She’s an incredible source of inspiration for any generations to come,” Caroline Rush, BFC executive disclosed of the designer.
In 2011, Sarah became a subject for fashion headlines after working on the Duchess of Cambridge’s custom-made Alexander McQueen wedding gown. 2019 has been a monumental season for the designer, from launching her very first flagship store since becoming creative director, of which Vogue editors describe as a more experiential retail concept than designer boutiques, to her soon-to-be-given Fashion Award honorary statue.
