If there is one thing Rihanna has proven to have an advanced opinion on, then is the idea of what society means by femininity.
Shutting down the New York Fashion Week, the Shine Bright Like A Diamond singer presented models embodying almost every body shape and size, color, to the extent of bringing on board pregnant models as well to walk the famous runway for her Savage x Fenty runway debut.
Speaking to E! News backstage after the show, Rihanna disclosed that to her women’s bodies alone are made to do so many different things, “Women are the strongest people on earth. Our bodies alone are made to do so many different things and they’re designed in so many different, unique ways. It is about time that we celebrate that.”
Her reasons for adding pregnant women on her runway show was to celebrate them. “If you have the blessing to bring life into this world, it should be celebrated as well, ” she said.
As part of the songstress femininity empowerment on the runway, Rihanna together with her glam squad celebrated each model and dancer with their own look instead of creating a uniform look as done by almost every runway show.
The team disclosed, “The Fenty Beauty artistry team wanted the beauty looks for Savage x Fenty to focus on the colorful interpretation of emotions, creating looks that featured breathable, radiant skin and intense washes of color inspired by stained glass. Each look was grounded in beautiful color, unique to each girl and their skin tone, topped with a high-gloss finish and shimmering skin from head to toe.”
It was reported after the show that pregnant model, Slick Woods went into labor shortly after her walk on the runway.
