Actress and philanthropist, Renée Zellweger will receive the 2020 Courage Award at the Women’s Cancer Research Fund’s annual fundraiser, An Unforgettable Evening. Zellweger will be feted for her charitable contributions and philanthropic efforts made evident throughout her career.
Over the years, the ‘Judy’ actress has demonstrated support to the breast cancer awareness community by attending fundraising events, rallying behind her publicist Nanci Ryder, diagnosed with breast cancer and ALS. She has also helped in raising funds for the ALS Association’s Golden West Chapter, all for the sake of the Team Nanci ALS movement.
An Unforgettable Evening will take place on February 27, at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. Chairing the gala event are Quinn Ezralow and Jamie Tisch. Wallis Annenberg, Kris Levine, NJ Falk, Tom Ford, Richard Buckley, Judy and Leonardo Lauder, Marion Laurie Lori Kanter Tritsch and William P. Lauder sitting in as co-chairs, while Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Kate Capshaw and Steven Spielberg take the honorary chairs’ seat.
It has been an incredible year for Zellweger since the climax of award season. For her portrayal of a real-life character Judy Garland in the movie ‘Judy’, she has won for herself a Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice Award, SAG-Award, National Board of Review and a British Independent Film Award for performance by an actress in lead role. Still an award season favorite, she is nominated for an Academy, BAFTA and Spirit Award.
