To the entire fan army of Reese Witherspoon, the Oscar winning actress is making a comeback to film after producing and acting in television for over three years. The ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ actress is producing and starring in two romantic/comedy films ‘Your Place or Mine’ and ‘The Cactus’ via her production banner Hello Sunshine for Netflix.
‘Your Place or Mine’ tells the story of two long-distance best friends who change each other’s lives when one decides to pursue a lifelong dream and the other volunteers to keep an eye on the friend’s teenage son. Aline Brosh McKenna will pen the script and make her directorial debut with the developing project.
The Cactus is based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Haywood, and centers on a 45-year-old woman who falls unexpectedly pregnant, leading her on an unconventional journey toward love, family and learning to embrace the unexpected. According to Vulture, ‘The Cactus’ novel forms part of the actress’ Hello Sunshine Book Club picks in 2018. It has no writer or director attached to it yet.
For the past three years on the television front, Reese has projected strong feminist characters that has raised conversations in Hollywood. Her last television appearance was in the American drama series ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ where she played Elena Richardson, the trying-to-be picture perfect mother to her four children but in the long run ended up causing the downfall of the family, indirectly.
