Not the jovial, yet intriguing 60 seconds on screen interview, on our YouTube space, nor Vogue’s 75 questions shot at the comfort of one’s residence or place of work, but the newly introduced informal way of interacting with people all over regardless the challenge of distance, all kind courtesy of Instagram stories questions and answers.
Making use of invented technology, Rida, the stylist with elegance took time off her waiting minutes at the Kotoka International airport at the break of yesterday to engage her 110k followers on Instagram in a Q&A moment before boarding her flight to Morocco. Questions were asked by her multiple admirers and time was also taken on her part to answer them all radiating in a no make-up glow face.
Obviously not a 20 to 25-year-old princess per our speculations and added assumptions, but definitely someone with enviable skin and facial beauty worthy of admiration. A smidgen of the Q&A read, “What is your skincare routine?”, listing them to the curious fellow, Rida noted, “cleanse face, moisturize, sunblock and face scrub once a week.”
Serving looks upon looks with less effort in posing and carrying the ensemble like no other, many attribute her success to that by virtue of her pretty face, which could be a fragment of the whole success bag, but then despite all the beauty you may have noticed from her scrolled through Instagram handle she hardly wears make-up. The secret behind it was shared to a fan who bothered to ask, “Secret, I’m, not a big fan of make-up. If it weren’t for @mzl4wson I’d probably never wear it! I do appreciate the enhancement it gives.”
Moving on from the facial questions, others were also interested in knowing how the Afua Rida style influencer brand all started, staying true to course, Afua disclosed, “I started out just trying to showcase the fashion pieces we had in Ghana and then the rest of Africa…I felt that there was a disconnect between the producer and consumer…and now, this is where those steps have brought me.”
Greatest fear questions also chimed in and the hidden answer was typed, “Not achieving what God put me on earth to do! To be honest I am not too anxious about it. I just have to be myself, follow my gut, spread love, work hard and I am sure it will all fall into place nicely.”
You may remember her from the Home Sweet Home TV series back in the day through to her Nescafé and UB hair relaxer adverts. A straight-forward question was put before her on her phone screen, which read, “What’s your best memory on home sweet home?” she replied, “Back in the day I was super shy. So getting that acting job helped with my confidence, I got to do something I loved doing and was surrounded by some talented people”.
In a roundup of the details shared by our two-time fashion blogger of the year winner (Glitz Style Awards), Afua touched on the reasons why she chooses not be a braggart of her success by remaining humble and staying true to the course, “There are so many challenges that come with the job. Always trying to better myself. I learn a lot from my mistakes (which are a lot). I always think that everything I do, every day is a gift and I’m just grateful.”
Three challenges as an influencer question welcomed the answers, “Working as an influencer in Africa is quite challenging. Getting what you deserve and constant work, I used to struggle with writing captions, not much anymore,” but now she is one of the queens of gram captions. She then added she couldn’t think of a third one at the moment.
And just so you know, Afua is a product of Ghana International School.
Till next time on Q&A with Afua Rida. It’s a wrap!
