The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences put together the 92nd Academy Awards last night inside the Dolby Theaters. Captured by Hollywood as the highest honor in the film industry, South Korean drama/mystery film ‘Parasite’ made history by becoming the first International film to win best picture. It also took home best foreign language film, best director for Bong Joon-ho and best original screenplay.
‘Joker’ which went into the night with the highest score of nominations (11) nabbed two honors, best actor for Joaquin Phoenix and original score. Renee Zellweger returned to the podium after seventeen years of Oscar drought by winning best actress in a lead role for her portrayal of Judy Garland in ‘Judy’. Laura Dern won for best supporting actress ‘Marriage Story’ and Brad Pitt won for best actor in a supporting role for ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.
For the adapted screenplay category, Taika Waititi’s Searchlight film ‘Jojo Rabbit’ conquered other category contenders for the win, whiles ‘Little Women’ recorded one win for best costume design.
World War I film ‘1917’ netted three Oscars in the categories of visual effects, cinematography and sound mixing. Elton John won his second Academy Award for best original song with the ‘Rocketman’ tune song ‘I’m Gonna Love You Again’.
