Vanessa Pounce de Leon, crowned Miss World 2018 is set to embark on a 6-day visit to the motherland Ghana. Vanessa will be accompanied by the chairwoman of Miss World Organisation and founder of the Beauty with Purpose Charity Julia Morley, together with ten other beauty queens from the world.
The Miss World visit to Ghana slated for July 2 – 7 will witness the queen tour parts of the country in support of the numerous social intervention projects organised by the Miss Ghana Foundation. Over the years, the Miss Ghana Foundation has extended its charity works to Don Bosco Technical & Vocational Training Institute in Ashaiman, Nabuli of the Northern Region and FOCOS hospital. The reigning Miss World is most likely to make stops at the mentioned places to oversee activities carried out by the foundation.
Vanessa’s first appearance in Ghana will be crowned with a charity ball, an attempt to raise funds in support of the projects and also honour the chairwoman of the Miss World Franchise. Also on the night of the ball – July 6, at the Kempinski Gold Coast Accra City Hotel, is scheduled the Miss Ghana Grande Finale where Vanessa will witness the coronation moment of the next Miss Ghana queen, who will stand in as representative of the country during the Miss World pageant in 2019.
This will be the second time in the Miss Ghana pageant history where a reigning Miss World has paid a visit. In 2012, during the queening moment of Miss Stephanie Karikari (2010/2011) was the coming home of Miss World 2011 Ivian Sarcos, to support her fellow Miss World 2011 contestant Stephanie, as she embarked on her projects after winning the Beauty with Purpose at the Miss World competition.
20 delegates chosen across all regions will battle it out on the eve of the finale for the most coveted Miss Ghana crown. All delegates have gone through series of mentorship programmes, spa treatments and a talent show as part of their grooming process in the competition.
The Miss Ghana beauty pageant is organised by Exclusive Events Ghana, headed by Miss Ghana 2004 Inna Patty.
