Former first lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama has every reason to be happy as her newly published memoir ‘Becoming’ helms over the fastest selling book of 2018 in its first week of release.
Becoming details moments in Obama’s life from her childhood in Chicago to her time in the White House. According to bookseller Barnes & Noble, the book is officially the fastest-selling book so far in 2018. Senior director of merchandising trade books at Barnes & Noble shared, “We knew Becoming was going to be one of the biggest books of the year, but it has officially had the best first week of sales of any book in 2018, and is among the fastest sellers in Barnes & Noble history. This is definitely the must-have book of the holiday season.”
On the first day of its release, the book grossed up to 725,000 copies in demand surpassing Harper Lee’s Go Set a Watchman, released in 2015, which was the only book in recent history to sell maximum copies in its first week of sales.
The former first lady now turned best-selling author has been on tour in America since the first day of the book release, November 13, booking talk shows and selling out arenas across the country to discuss her work. In one of her tours last Saturday, she was surprised on stage by her husband Barack Obama, who presented her a bouquet of pink roses and described her as ‘One of a kind’.
