1997 ‘Good Will Hunting’ screen duo, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are making a team comeback with the movie ‘The Last Duel’. Ridley Scott is directing.
The upcoming pic is a revenge thriller set in 14th century France and follows a man who goes to war and returns to discover his friend of his past raped his wife. No one will believe the woman, and the soldier appeals to the king of France and says he wants to fight a duel to the death to decide the man’s fate, becoming the last legally sanctioned duel in France.
The project will be produced by Scott Free Productions alongside Damon and Affleck’s Pearl Street Films shingle. Madison Ainsley will executive produce. Fox is in the lead of grabbing the project for production, but it is unclear whether they will hand over production rights to Disney in the long run as the franchise is making moves to bag it for production.
Affleck will next star in Universal’s ‘I Am Still Alive’ while Damon will also be seen next in Fox’s ‘Ford v Ferrari’ opposite Christian Bale. Both stars are repped by WME.
