‘Call Me by Your Name’ director Luca Guadagnino is in talks with Warner Bros. to direct the production company’s adaptation of ‘Lord of the Flies’. The adaptation will follow the original novel storyline which centers on a group of school boys stranded on a deserted island who descend into a savage social order.
Back in 2017 when Warner Bros. reacquired production rights over the novel, plans were made to change the central characters from males to females, but upon several deliberations and backlash received, the initial plan has been scrapped off the table.
Known Universe, the production company founded by Lindsey Beer, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, is in negotiations to executive produce the pic, whiles Guadagnino and his producing partner Marco Morabito are producing.
Start date for production has not been settled yet, since Guadagnino is currently working on HBO’s miniseries ‘We Are Who We Are’ and is not moving on another project without finishing the present one, Variety confirms.
Guadagnino is repped by WME and Bloom Hergott.
