On the other side of the world (Hollywood), you may want to describe her as the Valerie Lawson of the industry as her face beat brushes have radiated on the faces of almost every A-list icon in Hollywood. An online beauty expert with over 1.8 million subscribers to her YouTube channel, Lancome creative director and make-up artiste, Lisa Eldridge has finally come up with her own beauty product, primarily for the red lipstick enthusiasts.
The red lipstick inspired by velvet comes in three forms, Velvet Morning (a bold orange-red), Velvet Jazz (a sophisticated brick red) and Velvet Ribbon (a classic blue-red). The product is dubbed cruelty-free lipstick, well packaged in gold bullets and having her signature name etched on the cap.
Speaking about her first solo makeup product, Velvet disclosed, “I tend to do things organically and very much in my own time, there’s never a plan! I had a dream about a lipstick that appeared to be made out of velvet fabric a few years ago and I thought, wow if it was ever possible to achieve that effect, it would make a gorgeous limited-edition holiday collection.”
She goes ahead to tell Vogue, the inspiration behind her choice of red color for a debut lipstick product, “Red is the OG make-up color and red lipstick in particular symbolizes sass, defiance, femininity, power and vitality to me. I f I ever need a confidence boost or pick-me-up it’s the first thing I reach for. I also believe there’s a red for everyone. In this particular case I thought that red and the velvet finish is such a heavenly duo… think of sumptuous vintage theater chairs and the heavy drapery of Hollywood starlet’s gowns,” said Velvet.
The cruelty-free lipstick will be available on Eldridge’s website from November 19, going for £26 (or $34 USD) for an individual lipstick and £75 (or $97 USD) for the trio.
