Lady Gaga wins artist of the year at the 2020 Music Video Awards

Last night inside the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards, Lady Gaga was named artist of the year together with three other top mentions and an honorary award for the very first Tricon Award, which recognized the star for being a multidimensional artist involved in music, acting and philanthropy.

The biggest category of the evening, Video of the Year went to The Weekend for ‘Blinding Lights’, while BTS bagged four awards including best group and best pop with ‘On’. In the category of Video for Good, H.E.R. enveloped the accolade with her music video for the song, ‘I Can’t Breathe’.

Ariana Grande, who went into the night as one of the most nominated artists of the evening, picked up the best music video from home award, for her collaborated song with Justin Bieber, ‘Stuck with U’. Taylor Swift also won best direction for ‘The Man’ video, while Miley Cyrus took home best art direction for ‘Mother’s Daughter’ and best editing as well.

Keke Palmer hosted the show, which broadcasted live from New York City on MTV.
