American Idol judge and 13-time Grammy award nominee, Katy Perry is facing legal charges for a paparazzi photo she shared on Instagram to mark Halloween in 2016.
The image in question had Katy dressed like 2016 Democratic presidential running candidate Hillary Clinton for Halloween. Three years down the line now, Katy is being sued by Backgrid, the photo agency that owns the rights to the image.
According to the agency, Katy did not secure the full rights to the image before sharing it on Instagram and has since then ignored all attempts made by them in reaching out to the pop-star in settling the requirements for a full ownership of the photo. Due to her failure to comply with the demands of the agency, Katy is charged with a $150,000 fee as payment to be made for the breach of contract.
Known as one of America’s sensational pop stars of all time, Katy has however faced lawsuits related to her career path in past years and was recently charged with a $2.8 million bill after she was declared guilty by a federal jury for unlawful copy of her hit song ‘Dark Horse’.
Katy and her team are yet to respond to the new charges been faced with.
