In wake of school closures and public gatherings in the country to help fight coronavirus, award-winning actor now turned politician John Dumelo has donated prescribed items by the Ghana Health Service that curbs the spread of COVID-19 to police officers in the Ayawaso West district.
The donated items include Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, detergents and hand gloves. The act according to the actor is to protect the people who protect us, thus the police officers. John wrote beneath his donation post saying, “All 5 police stations across the Ayawaso West constituency today received Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, detergents and hand gloves to help them stay protected against the Corona Virus since they come in contact with people every day. We need to protect those who protect us.”
Currently, hand sanitizers are on high demand in the country, consequently causing a shoot-up in prices. As a concerned aspirant for his constituency John has also promised to share 3000 sanitizers freely among individuals that make up the Ayawaso West constituency.
Ghana is presently fighting seven reported cases of the virus. President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo issued a state order on Sunday March 15, that all schools, churches as well as social gatherings that shelters more than 25 people be suspended for the time being until signs indicate that the virus cannot be spread any longer.
