Last seen in ‘Dark Phoenix’, Jennifer Lawrence is making an onscreen comeback, starring and producing the movie ‘Mob Girl’. The film will be co-produced by Lawrence and her Excellent Cadaver company partner Justine Polysky, alongside Paolo Sorrentino and Lorenzo Mieli.
Adapted for the screen from the same name title book written by Teresa Carpenter, ‘Mob Girl’ tells the story of Arlyne Brickman, a woman who grew up among racketeers and mobsters on the Lower side of New York City. From dating the wise guys to then running errands for them, she became a mob girlfriend who then wanted a piece of the action herself. She eventually became a police informant and major witness in the government’s case against the Colombo crime family.
“Seeing this story from a woman’s point of view is a fresh and exciting approach to telling a classic mob story. We could not imagine a more perfect team of stellar filmmakers, with Jennifer starring in a tour de force role and Paolo at the helm, to bring Arlyne’s strength and unique perspective to life on screen,” disclosed Makeready founder and CEO Brad Weston.
The ‘Mob Girl’ project forms part of Jen’s signed deal under her flagship company Excellent Cadaver with Makeready Studio, to provide films exclusively for the studio’s platform. Angelina Burnett will pen the script, whiles Sorrentino takes charge of directing.
The Oscar winning actress, repped by LBI Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson, currently has her hands busy shooting A24’S soldier drama hitting cinemas soon.
