Academy Award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is making her Netflix debut this year with a production set from Adam McKay titled ‘Don’t Look Up’.
The comedy-oriented film will tell the story of a pair of hapless astronomers sent on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching asteroid that will destroy planet earth. McKay is the writer, producer and director of the developing film. “I’m so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence,” the director revealed in a statement. “She’s what folks in the 17th century used to call ‘a dynamite act’. And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way.”
Set by Netflix for a 2020 release date, Lawrence who has been away from the big screen close to two years after ‘Red Sparrow’ in 2018 is already looking busy for the year, as she has a lot on the pipeline before the year closes. Lawrence is involved in a lot of productions of late including a McKay biopic where she plays Elizabeth Holmes. She is also attached to star in Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘Mob Girl’ movie, which she is expected to play a real-life mafia informant Arlyne Brickman.
With developing projects under her belt, Lawrence recently wrapped up productions on the set of Lila Neugebauer’s first-ever picture ‘Red, White and Water’ centered around a soldier trying to readjust to life in America after experiencing severe head trauma in Afghanistan.
Jen, as she is affectionately called by her colleagues and fan base is an Oscar winner and a former highest-paid actress in the world title holder in the years 2015 and 2016.
Her entrance into the Netflix community adds her to the strokes of Stars such as Meryl Streep and Jennifer Aniston who have a certified number of original films produced by the platform.
