Last month, Cate Blanchett was confirmed to star in James Gray’s ‘Armageddon Time’ being developed at RT Features. Per confirmed news coming out, Gray has added extra strings to the cast bow alongside Blanchett. Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Oscar Isaac and Donald Sutherland have joined the cast sheet.
Based on a real-life event in the life of Gray, the film will detail his 1980s upbringing that explores friendship and loyalty against the backdrop of an America poised to elect Ronald Reagan as president.
Gray is behind the script and also directing the feature with RT’s Rodrigo Teixeira producing, while Lourenço Sant’Anna and Rodrigo Gutierrez of the RT franchise executive produce.
Wild Bunch International is said to introduce the film to buyers at this year’s virtual Cannes market and take access over its international rights. CAA Media Finance is responsible for the film’s domestic media distribution rights and at the same time sharing the Chinese rights over the film with WBI.
Newly attached cast members have had recent releases and commitments to star in developing Hollywood features. De Niro is set to star in Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. Hathaway stars next in the comedy film ‘The Witches’ coming out in October this year.
Isaac on the other hand has picked up the script to star in the Ben Stiller directed short story ‘London’, while Sutherland appeared in the trailer of Giuseppe Capotondi’s ‘The Burnt Orange Heresy’.
De Niro, Sutherland, Hathaway, Blanchett, Gray, and RT Features are repped by CAA. Hathaway is also repped by Management 360. Isaac is repped by WME and Inspire Entertainment.
