Gugu Mbatha-Raw has been added as cast member to the upcoming Disney Plus series ‘Loki’.
With no details given regarding the character Mbatha will play, the developing series already stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino and Owen Wilson.
Variety reports that, ‘Loki’ will feature the master of magic (played by Hiddleston) popping up at different times in human history and influencing major events. Michael Waldron is writing the script and the same time executive producing alongside Kate Herron who is also directing all episodes of the series.
At the television front, Mbatha was last seen in the first season of Apple TV+ series ‘The Morning Show’. She has also worked in the Emmy Award winning series ‘Black Mirror’, appearing in the titled episode ‘San Junipero’ in 2016. Her involvement in a couple of television productions scored her a Netflix voice over character for the show ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ which premiered in August last year.
For film roles, she has starred in ‘Motherless Brooklyn’ alongside Edward Norton, ‘Concussion’, ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ next to Oprah, ‘The Cloverfield Paradox’, and the live-action remake of ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
‘Loki’ adds to the tally of several limited series centered on MCU characters presently under works at Disney Plus. The roster includes; ‘Ms. Marvel’, ‘Hawkeye’, ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier’, ‘She-Hulk’, ‘Moon Knight’ and ‘WandaVision’.
Mbatha is repped by CAA in the U.S., Curtis Brown Group in the U.K. and Anonymous Content.
