As a precautionary measure against the continuous spread of coronavirus, Gucci has cancelled its Cruise 2021 fashion show, previously scheduled to take place on May 18 in San Francisco.
The announcement of the postponement came in late Monday issued by the Italian brand in statement saying, “A decision on the new timing and location of the show will be announced at a later date, once the situation becomes clearer. At this time, our thoughts are with all of those affected around the world.”
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus, lots of changes have been on the runway show calendars of fashion houses. Affected before Gucci, Prada had already postponed its resort show, which was slated to take place on May 21 in Japan. Giorgio Armani had to present his brought-in collection for the Milan Fashion show to an empty theater audience, whiles leveraging on livestream services to benefit loyal clients of the brand.
Adding to the number of cancelled shows shows due to the virus, several trade shows have also been postponed as a result of the ongoing disease outbreak. The likes of Mido and the Salone del Mobile in Milan, Cosmoprof in Bologna, Watches & Wonders in Geneva and Baselworld.
Worldometer, a real time world statistics site reports that by far, the virus has affected 91,333 people, 3,120 deaths and 48,264 recovery cases.
