The weekend has kick-started and over here at Glitz Africa we present to you a recap of all the celebrity and entertainment stories that made trends this week.
After the glitz, glam and success of the 2018 Golden Movie Awards Africa, held last weekend, reviews of the event were definitely something to look out for on Monday morning. First to make her review was Morning show host Obuobia Darko-Opoku, of Breakfast live on TV Africa.
The Politician/TV host in her review regarding the GMAA with her co-hosts Nikki Samonas and Khadijat, gave a bad remark of the red carpet host and hostesses, Jessica Larny, Kads Haloha and Moesha Boudong. According to Obuobia, the presenters did not do a good job. Her claim was based on the fact that they did not even know the nominees, which is a must for every red carpet host to know. In her words, “Moesha just flips the microphone in your face and ask you what are you wearing?”
She further advised the organizers of the event to look for professional people to host the red carpet next time.
In other stories around the GMAA 2018, award-winning actor, Prince David Osei says video vixen/actress, Rosemond Brown did not deserve to mount the GMAA stage to present an award with her bad English Grammar, since the award show is one of the best platforms to project Ghana well to the rest of the world. Rosemond upon hearing the news, posted a video on Instagram shedding tears and thanking Nana Aba-Anamoah, Joselyn Dumas and Jackie Appiah for believing in her and expressing her disappointment in Prince for making such comments about her.
She said, “I didn’t know where I went wrong for Prince David Osei to insult me on TV. David Osei what did I do for you to insult me, all that I do on my page is to crack jokes. Who do you think is better than me to present an award and because of that you insulted Golden movie awards. I leave you to God”.
Just when we thought celebrity catfights had ended with the last we heard between Fella Makafui and Efia Odo, the week presented itself with another one, which involves controversial comedian, Afia Schwazenegger and TV Personality MzDebbie. The ladies threw jabs at each other on Instagram beneath the comment section of a video posted by celebrity blogger, Ameyaw Debrah.
In the video, Mzdebbie is seen telling ZionFelix that she was not happy with the way show host AY Comedian, went about the Moesha issue in his MC duties. To her, Ghanaians have grown past the Moesha issue and it was inappropriate for AY to have resurfaced the issue all over again. Afia, who is very well known for sarcastic comments commented on the video saying “Comedians will pick on anything and anybody, that’s the job…even ur over concerned drama is as funny as f**k Madam…Sit down!!!!”
Debbie then replied the comedian saying “Where I come from if your husband sees you sleeping with another man they banish you…get a life stray dog”.
Moving away from the cat-fights and reviews, good news came in as Ghana’s best rapper and one of Africa’s best Sarkodie made it to the list of Forbes Africa under 30 list.
The rapper is the only Ghanaian to have made it on the list of the Under 30 Creatives. Sarkodie comes in 24th on the list. Familiar faces, who also made it on the list are, Yemi Alade (7), Falz (8), Davido (12) and Wizkid (17).
On the BET front, Hip-Hop artiste Kwesi Arthur makes Ghana proud as he is nominated for the BET Best International New Act category. This is the first international nomination for the artiste and we hope there are more to come his way as he continues to raise high the flag of Ghana outside.
The biggest highlight of the week in top stories is #Number 12 saga by award-winning investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas. A number of videos posted by the investigative Journalist revealed the corrupt nature of top personalities in football. Notable among them are, Kwesi Nyanatakyi GFA President, Eddie Doku Greater Accra Regional Football Association Chairman and more. These high profile personalities were caught up collecting huge sums of money from the investigative team of Anas disguised as football officials at the expense of favoring their team in a football match as against the fair deal that must be used in determining a match win.
In rumoured news, celebrated actress Yvonne Nelson is said to have broken up with her baby daddy Jamie Roberts. The two have unfollowed each other and deleted pictures of them together from their Instagram pages.
