Nominee list for the 2018 International Achievement Recognition Awards, IARA has been released. As much as there are some familiar names from Hollywood and Nollywood flooding the list of contenders, Ghana is not missing in action.
A-list stars in the Ghana showbiz industry, who have over the years made their cut on international platforms were recognized in the list of nominees in the categories of movies, music, media and fashion.
In the movie categories, multiple award-winning actor, Adjetey Annan finds himself in a race with Nollywood actor, Kenneth Okoli alongside 4 lead actors for the IARA Best International Actor 2018. Meanwhile, his colleague and Scorned actor, Chris Attoh is in the Best actor category, which is quite competitive as the Oscar nominated Best Picture movie ‘ Get Out’ lead actor Daniel Kaluuya is also in the race together with John Boyega of Star Wars; The last Jedi.
Potahto Potato actress, Joselyn Dumas also grabbed for herself three nominations for Best Actress, Best International Actress and Best Media Personality 2018. Fashionista/actress, Zynell Zuh is also nominated for the Best Young Actress 2018 award for her performance in the 2017 released movie Deranged.
Aside the laudable recognition in the movie categories, the music side did not slack either as our award-winning artists also made it on the list. Stonebwoy, Efya and Medikal are among the 8-member squad in music nominated for Best African Music Artist. Medikal adds to his tally by scoring another nod in the Best International Male Artist category against popular names such as Davido, Peter Okoye and Diamond Platnumz. Come and See my Mother hit maker, Mzvee lines up with 7 other female contenders for the Best International Female Artists 2018 award.
For Fashion, Glitz Style awards Red Carpet Designer of the year 2017, Sima Brew is nominated for Best Female Fashion Designer of the Year.
The International Achievement Recognition Awards confers, highlight outstanding talents, laudable initiatives and recognize the hard work of those in Theatre, Music, Film/TV and the Fashion industry. The IARA was founded in 2014, aimed at recognizing artistes across the Art and Entertainment industry, for Excellence, Inclusion, Diversity, Equality, and Innovations. IARA, acknowledge role models who have excelled within their respective industries and have put foundation in place for continued success and expansion.
The award show is slated to take place on Saturday, 22nd September 2018 at Hilton Hotel Canary Wharf, London E14 9SH.
