The 2024 Ghana Women of the Year Honours concluded in grand style, bringing together distinguished leaders, trailblazers, and advocates for an unforgettable evening.
Held at The Palms Convention Centre, the event honored exceptional women who have made significant contributions to society through their leadership, innovation, and dedication to creating positive change in Ghana and beyond.
This year’s edition saw the First Lady of Ghana, Mrs Rebecca Akufo – Addo gracing the occasion as the Special Guest of Honour. In a fitting tribute to her ongoing efforts in championing women’s empowerment and her leadership across various sectors, she was presented with the prestigious Ultimate Woman of the Year Honour.
Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman – Rawlings was also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement of the Year award, while Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund, Hon. Irene Naa Torshie Addo was awarded with the Excellence in Governance plaque.
The Ghana Women of the Year Honours, now in its 9th year, continues to highlight the powerful stories of women excelling in fields such as business, education, health, public service, hospitality, creative and others.
The honorees for 2024 were a diverse group of individuals who are breaking barriers, and they include:
Excellence in Education – Prof Angela Owusu – Ansah
Excellence in Business – Mrs Patricia Poku Diaby
Rita Agbeko, Finance Manger for Plot Enterprise Limited received the Excellence in Business award on behalf of Mrs Patricia Poku Diaby.
Excellence in Media – Portia Gabor
Excellence in Health – Dr. Dzifa Dey
Lifetime Achievement – Nana Konadu Agyeman – Rawlings
Excellence in Governance – Hon. Irene Naa Torshie – Addo
Abigail Dromo – Young Star
Excellence in Technology – Dr. Mavis Owureku – Asare
Excellence in Creative Arts – Nelly Hagan
Excellence in Public Service – Mrs Tucci Ivowi
Humanitarian of the Year – Louisa Enyonam Ansah
Nana Krobea Asante – Excellence in Hospitality
Mrs Femi Asante – Activist of the Year
The event also featured performance from Nana Asaase, Vodafone Ghana Music Award winning artistes Celestine Donkor and Mr. Drew.
