Mary Ama Boansi, who is based in the US has sued award-winning Ghanaian comedian Funny Face under the charge of a debt totaled to be $53,105.53.
In a writ issued by the Accra High Court on November 25, 2019, Boansi is making a case together with her attorney Freeman Yeboah, on grounds that Funny Face has failed to make payment of debts he owes Boansi after several non-legal attempts to cause the actor to refund the money he owes.
According to the writ, the defendant (Funny Face) started a romantic relationship with Boansi in June 2016. In the course of the affair, the ‘Chorkor Trotro’ star and producer sought financial assistance from Boansi with the excuse of investing it into his popular television show ‘Cow and Chicken’. The relationship gradually developed into a marriage proposal and as such Boansi’s financial assistance to the actor extended to his family members as well.
In addition to the financial assistance to his film production and family support, the writ also indicates that Funny Face took the sum of $4,000.00 from Mary sometime July 2017 to purchase a vehicle engine and repair his Range Rover vehicle, gifted him by Togolese footballer Emmanuel Adebayor.
Boansi is now asking Funny Face to make full payment of the $53,105.53 he owes her or its Ghana cedi equivalent with interest on the total sum. She also demands a declaration that the defendant defrauded her through false pretense and payment of her legal fees as well, per the writ.
Funny Face has however reacted to the accusation via his social media handle saying in a recorded video, “This is a pure case of relationship gone bad. Somebody has gone to sit, plan that ‘lemme come back and disgrace him’. After one year… Over one-year breakup; you’re now coming back to say what? Anyway, the issue is in court, my lawyers will deal with it so FunnyFans, relax. After seeing that the man is back again, this is how you attack? After your threat?… Eh go over you”.
