Multiple award-winning actress, writer and producer, Funke Akindele Bello has accrued another Nollywood title to her credit. The ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ lead actress has landed her first directorial feature film on the set of Ebonylife films developing project ‘Your Excellency’.
Funke is directing whiles on board as a lead actress. The script tells the story of Chief Olalekan Ajadi, a bumbling billionaire businessman and failed presidential candidate, who is obsessed with Donald Trump. Just when his campaign looks set to be another disaster, Ajadi is anointed by a major party and becomes a credible contender, all through the power of social media.
Set for release December 2019, ‘Your Excellency’ is a theater followup from Ebonylife Films after last year’s blockbuster ‘Chief Daddy’ scored a whopping 301,815,569 million naira box office total, making it the number 1 box office film in Nigeria and Ghana during the festive season. Prior to ‘Chief Daddy’s’ cinemas takeover, the production house had already bagged the coveted title in 2017 with ‘The Wedding Party’ which fetched 400 million naira ($1 million) at the end of its homerun in local cinemas.
‘Your Excellency’ stars Lala Akindoju, Shay Bello, Alex Ekubo, Osas Ighodalo, Helen Paul and others. Isioma Osaje and James Amuta are producing alongside Nicole Ofoegbu serving as associate producer. Ebonylife films CEO and founder Mo Abubu will executive produce.
