Facebook has inked an exclusive deal with the British Academy to live stream the 2020 pre-show at Sunday’s BAFTA Awards.
The production will go by the theme ‘The EEBAFTAs Red Carpet Facebook Get Together’. Vick Hope, Jack Howard, Nush Cope and Tyler West are hosting, generating contents from both in-studio and on-carpet activities, as well as interactive audience integration.
“Watching the stars arrive at the BAFTA Film Awards is a hugely exciting moment that fans anticipate every year,” said Facebook’s head of entertainment partnerships, Northern Europe, Anna Higgs. “By giving audiences the opportunity to follow along in real-time, as well as interact with our hosts as the action with the stars unfolds will create a new, immersive experience for communities on our platform – we’re delighted to be working with BAFTA to bring this vision to life.”
The live stream will start from 5p.m and end 6:30p.m London time. The show will be split between the BAFTA red carpet and the Facebook Live studio in London, incorporating polling, live comments and Q&As. Audience of the BAFTA pre-show can stream it on Facebook via BAFTA’S official account on the app.
‘Joker’ leads this year’s nominations with 11 mentions. ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, ‘The Irishman’, ‘Marriage Story’ and ‘Two Popes’, all have multiple nominations going into the night.
The awards will take place inside the Royal Albert Hall, London, come February 2.
