Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful has been added to the list of judges for the 2020 International Woolwork Prize. Enninful will be joined by designer Kim Jones, Tim Blanks, Anja Rubik, Hamish Bowles and Sinead Burke.
“I am delighted to be joining this year’s judging panel for the Woolmark Prize. Supporting young designers is something close to my heart and I think it’s important that the prize both acknowledges credible new talent and champions the wool industry,” Enninful said.
The International Woolwork prize is awarded to young designers who showcase the beauty and versatility of Merino wool. As part of this year’s awards lineup, a Karl Lagerfeld Award for Innovation has been introduced to honor the late designer who died nearly a year ago. The prize will be given to a finalist who showcases outstanding creativity and innovation. Carine Roitfeld of CR Fashion Book will present the prize.
Over 300 designers from 40 different countries placed in entry to be a part of the program. Ten finalists have been selected so far with each one of them awarded a cash prize of £47,000 (AU$70,000), after they were announced in October last year. The given cash is to be used in creating collections that will be presented before the awards ceremony at the London Fashion Week on 17 February. The overall winner is assured of getting £105,000 (AU$200,000), while the designer who comes in second wins £53,000 (AU$100,000) for the inaugural Karl Lagerfeld Award for Innovation.
