‘Red Notice’, which will star Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot of ‘Wonder Woman’ fame has moved from its initial production house Universal to streaming platform Netflix.
Universal had been tipped last year to helm over productions of the developing film nearing a budget in between $125 million and $150 million, but has handed over production rights to Netflix due to clash with an untitled project under works. Director of the film Rawson Marshall Thurber, disclosed of the new Netflix partnership, “I’m beyond thrilled to be making Red Notice with Scott Stubber and Netflix, a company that believes in filmmakers and big ideas for a global audience.”
One of the film’s lead cast Dwayne, who also doubles as producer also added his excitement on the collaboration with Netflix, “With Red Notice, our goal at Seven Bucks productions was to break down traditional barriers and create a true global event for the audience. Netflix has illustrated that they are the perfect partners to accomplish this goal.”
The film is set to fetch Dwayne his first ever $20 million gig in film. It holds on record as one of Netflix most expensive feature undertakings to date, alongside ‘Six Underground’. Adding to the shift of production house announcement is Ryan Reynolds addition to the cast list, which Netflix Film head Stuber said in a statement, “We can’t wait to bring this story and this Dream Team of movie stars, Dwayne, Ryan and Gal, to audiences around the world.”
