Drake and LeBron James are expanding their close relationship as associates with Uninterrupted, the digital platform which is run by James’ business manager Maverick Carter. Uninterrupted is heading to Canada, the home country of Drake.
Bringing Uninterrupted to Canada to be headed by CEO Scott Moore and Chief Content Officer Vinay Viramani, will have Drake become a part owner and promoter for the digital network in the Canada. The Canadian version of Uninterrupted will be cladded with content similar to the one produced in the U.S. where it features pro athletes speaking directly to fans via video shorts and bypass the flittering voice of sports reporters. The ultimate goal of the network is to provide celebrity athletes the platform to remain relevant and resonate with their fans outside of competition.
‘Uninterrupted has been an incredible platform for athletes to tell their stories and connect with fans. I’m honored to partner with LeBron to bring Uninterrupted to Canada, a country that consciously supports innovation and creativity,” Drake juiced in a statement about the partnership.
Drake and LeBron have past collaborations on record with the most popular one looked at from their 2017 produced ‘The Carter Effect’ documentary about NBA dunk champ and eight-time All-Star player Vince Carter, which premiered at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival.
Started in 2015, with less hopes of expanding to other international countries, James shared in his own statement about the growth of the company, “When we started Uninterrupted, it was to give athletes a platform which we could share our stories and connect with our fans in a way we never had before. It’s exciting to see that idea now leading a whole new era of athletes around the world feeling empowered to do more and be more.”
