Harry Style’s declined role in the Disney live-action remake of ‘Little Mermaid’ has found a new Prince Eric to be played by young actor Jonah Hauer-King. Jonah landed the Prince Eric role after a series of back-and-forth reading and testing against colleague actor Cameron Cuffe, before scoring the role.
The animated film already has on its cast line-up Halle Bailey, who will play the lead role Ariel, Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy playing witch Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina playing Scuttle and Daveed Diggs playing Sebastian the crab.
Rob Marshall is set to direct the film, whiles Lin-Manuel Miranda is writing the remake and at the same time composing the songs alongside original composer Alan Menken. Marc Platt, Marshall and John DeLuca are producing. The developing film will feature all the well-known songs from the original and also have new ones added to it.
Jonah’s works in film include his appearance in ‘A Dog’s Way Home,’ BBC adaptation of ‘Little Women’ in 2017, BBC war drama ‘World on Fire’ and the West End production feature of ‘The Entertainer’. He is repped by CAA and UK’s United Agents.
Productions begins early 2020.
