SAG-AFTRA Foundation has found its new president in ‘Ben is Back’ actor Courtney B. Vance. The Emmy winner takes over from JoBeth Williams, after 10 years as President.
The organization announced on Tuesday saying, “We are proud to announce Courtney B. Vance is the new president of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. He embodies our values of education and dedicated service to artists, and he is a remarkable role model.” The honor of presidency will be done Courtney on Thursday, November 7 at the 4th annual Patron of the Artists Awards at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
The presidential seat will have him helm the organization’s new Entertainment Industry Council, made of industry leaders including J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy, which will advise Courtney on how to best serve performers at all points in their career.
“The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is a vital organization and it is a privilege to shine a light on it in my new roles, there are small jobs. This is an opportunity to help people and educate artists who are the backbone of our industry,” Vance disclosed about the organization and his new role.
Aside Courtney’s presidential fame set to run through the night, Hollywood stars Jennifer Aniston, Greg Berlanti, Ava DuVernay and Mark Ruffalo will all be honored with the Patron of the Artists Award.
