For the third time in the TV3 organized beauty pageant, Ghana’s Most Beautiful, a Central region representative has won the coveted GMB crown.
Facing off against 15 other regional contested from the start of the show through to the shortlisted 5 contestants in the grand finale, thanks to public voting and weekly stage performances, Ekua Mends Bannerman hailing from the Central Region was crowned queen. She becomes the third representative from the central part of Ghana to emerge winner of the competition after Ama won the maiden edition in 2007 and Esi winning 8 years later in 2015.
As reigning queen, Ama walked home with a brand-new car, 10,000 Ghana cedis cash prize, a round trip to Dubai, a year supply of GTP fabrics plus other souvenirs from sponsors. Volta region’s representative Enam and Ashanti Region’s representative Serwaa came in 1st and 2nd runner-up respectively, while Western North’s representative Saah and Upper East region’s Ayisha, both took the 3rd and 4th runners-up spot, in order of mention.
The 13th edition of the competition worked under the theme ‘Black ‘N’ Proud’ with 16 delegates for the first time as against the usual 10 contestants that battle it out for the crown. Long-running judge of the show Linda Ampah returned as judge for the finale together with Yoofi Brew and guest judge Samantha Wuta-Ofei.
The night featured stellar performances from two-time Vodafone Ghana Music Awards winner Adina Thembi, ‘Zanku’ hit makers Dopenation and the 2016 VGMA song writer of the year winner Kofi Kinaata.
