Celebrating Women: Press for Progress

2 min read

Women all around the world are standing up for their rights both in domestic settings as well as in corporate circles. Thanks to several empowerment movements in our various communities, women are gathering the courage to fight for what they deserve and supporting one another to achieve their goals.

But there is definitely more room for improvement. With famous people coming out with their #MeToo stories,  more women were inspired to come out with their own experiences. This caused a wave of healing to fill the hearts of thousands of women worldwide-to recognize that they are not alone; that it is possible to overcome the trauma and move on with their lives.

But we can’t afford to lose steam now. That is why this year’s theme to Press for Progress is so significant. Women especially in positions of influence, should be mouthpieces for their fellow women who are being oppressed on different levels and push for laws to be passed and policies to be implemented to protect women’s rights and interests. We should not give up holding each other up and standing together to confront whatever may come against us.

Let’s press for progress for our families, careers, rights and everything else that matters to us. Let’s keep inspiring one another instead of pulling each other down. When women come together, incredible things happen!
