The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Court 12 in Bwari-Abuja has dismissed Busola Dakolo’s rape case filed against Commonwealth of Zion Assembly’s pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo.
According to the judge’s ruling, the matter amounts to injustice and an abuse of judicial process. He again stated that the case is empty and purely sentimental and was aimed more at cruelty than obtaining justice. The final hearing also had Busola charged with the sum of N1,000,000 to be paid to the defendant, Pastor Biodun, while the case was tagged a waste of time to the court.
In the early months of 2019, Busola granted a full unscripted interview with Chude Jideonwo, where she recounted a sexual abuse experience she faced as a teenager serving under Pastor Biodun, in the name of service to ministry work. The revelation caused a huge stir on social media, leading to a call of justice for Busola from power house names in Nigeria and beyond.
Upon hearing the final verdict, Busola took to her Instagram handle on Thursday, November 14, to express her displeasure of the turn of events in a lengthy statement of which a part reads, “Today, I am glad that my voice is not silenced and this is a victory for me. I must encourage every woman out there to keep the pace and never stop voicing out against the evil of rape and sexual abuse.”
